In these videos, creators fill their tubs with water, place plates of food on the surface, and slowly creep toward them like a predator. Suddenly, they attack the floating food like an alligator—sometimes even doing the famous alligator death roll.

The trend reportedly started in December 2025, when one TikTok user joked about sitting in a bathtub to imagine what it feels like to be a lonely alligator.

But by February 2026, the trend exploded, with hundreds of creators joining in and some videos reaching millions of views.

And viewers online are both confused and entertained, saying the trend proves you truly never know what people are doing in their homes.
